Pyramid Lake remains closed

Pyramid LAKE will not reopen until next month as cleanup continues following a March 23 pipeline accident that dumped an estimated 126,000 gallons of crude oil into the lake.
The reopening has been postponed for at least a few weeks, according to Cid Morgan, district ranger for the Angeles National Forest.
The area directly affected by the spill, a small cove in the southeastern tip of the lake, could remain closed for a year or longer.
Fish and wildlife have been relatively unaffected by the oil, Morgan says.
The spill occurred when a landslide ruptured a 14-inch, high-pressure pipeline operated by Pacific Energy Partners.
