Stop and reconsider the ‘red flag day’ ordinance

Re “Parking Limits Raise Red Flags,” Dec. 22

The new “red flag day” ordinance is yet another bureaucratic blunder on the part of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Did anyone consider fires that occur on non-red flag days? In my area of Mount Washington, we have had two brush fires this year that flared during days with normal weather conditions. How will the new ordinance address that issue? The threat of citation and towing in our area is a laugh because Parking Enforcement is notoriously absent when cars are parked in “no parking at any time” zones, which abound in most hill areas. Our council members approved the new ordinance without any input from the residents of the area. Go figure.
