She Made Her Dad So Proud

I was delighted to read about Charlie Lord by his daughter, M.G. Lord (“Rocket Man, Rocket Girl,” Jan. 30). Charlie and I became acquainted in the mid-’70s and bowled on the same team for years. He was so proud of M.G., and before she went off to Yale he came by the house to introduce her to my children. He kept us advised of her progress and her jobs after graduation.

I am sorry that she didn’t realize until late in life how very proud her father was of her. Before her clippings reached his scrapbook, they were shared with his many friends. They each missed so much.
