Killing off the cast

Susan King’s excellent analysis of the “new” trend in season-ending TV finales only underscores the theory that some ideas are worse the second, third and ad nauseam time around [“Sorting out the Mayhem,” May 27].
The new message of show finales seems to be, “Don’t get hooked on any one character or characters, ‘cause we can take them away any time we want.”
