Regarding “Ready to Grab and Go,” Nov. 6: Although several firms offer home inventory software for purchase, the Insurance Information Network of California, a nonprofit insurance association, provides free inventory software as a download from its website at www.iinc.org.

Once an inventory is completed, don’t let it collect dust. Use it to keep your insurance policy current, and update it whenever you undertake a home renovation or make major purchases.
