Turkish house, through the trees

JAMES STERN and his wife, Bella, were on a trip through Turkey and Greece when they drove past this grove of birch trees and a farmhouse south of Izmir along the Aegean. He said, “I think I passed up a great image.” She told him to go back, and he did. The light had grown more dramatic. Stern, a respiratory therapist who lives in Santa Monica, has been serious about photography for 25 years and took this with a Nikon F3-HP on Kodacolor 100 film.
