New look, new guests for Gramercy

THANKS to Travel Log [“Gramercy Makeover Goes Artsy,” Aug. 6], I now know that the funky, charming Gramercy Park Hotel in New York has received a full makeover.

But who are these “haute bohemians” (words of hotelier Ian Schrager) targeted by the Nouveau Gramercy? Snobby beatniks? Layabouts beating their bongos on the Riviera?

Whoever they are, they can afford guest rates of $525 per day, most of which presumably goes to super trendy Pop artists whose works now enliven the lobby walls.
