Treasures from the past

Thanks for the reminder that an older home’s vintage lighting and plumbing fixtures and original wood-frame windows should be valued and preserved not just because they’re old but because, in many cases, they’re better than any on the market today [“Old? It’s Gold,” Nov. 19]. Some people preserve and restore old houses for the same reason others preserve and restore old cars: They’re getting rare, and (almost) nobody makes ‘em like that any more.
