Depleted Knicks rescued by Marbury at OT buzzer

The New York Knicks showed the right kind of fight this time.

Down to eight players after four were suspended for their roles in a weekend brawl, New York erased a 16-point deficit Monday night and stunned the visiting Utah Jazz, 97-96, in overtime on Stephon Marbury’s layup just before time expired.

Marbury had 29 points and eight assists and the Knicks found a way to win despite making only two field goals in the final eight minutes of regulation.

Deron Williams scored 23 points for Utah, including a jump shot that gave the Jazz a 96-95 lead with three seconds left. But a moving Marbury took an inbounds pass and made the winning layup.

Miami 101, New Orleans 99 -- Dwyane Wade had 29 points and made a fadeaway shot with 1.3 seconds left at Miami, capping the Heat’s rally from a nine-point deficit in the final six minutes. Chris Paul had 26 points for the Hornets, who scored only two points after leading, 97-88, with 6:02 left.

Dallas 109, Sacramento 91 -- Dirk Nowitzki had 29 points and Josh Howard added 28 in handing the host Kings their eighth loss in 10 games.

Memphis 134, Seattle 126 -- Rudy Gay had six of his 17 points in the second overtime to help the host Grizzlies end a six-game skid. Rashard Lewis had 36 points and 14 rebounds for Seattle.

New Jersey 105, Golden State 97 -- Jason Kidd had 10 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds for the Nets at East Rutherford, N.J.
