A man linked to the longest drug tunnel ever discovered under the U.S.-Mexico border pleaded guilty Monday to a narcotics-related charge, according to federal authorities.
Carlos Cardenas-Calvillos faces a minimum 10-year prison term for helping operate a San Diego warehouse that concealed a 2,500-foot-long tunnel used to funnel drugs from Tijuana.
Cardenas-Calvillos, acting as a sales representative for a produce company, admitted that his work was a front for the trafficking operation, authorities said.
The investigation into the tunnel’s construction is ongoing, authorities said.
