Pentagon Plan Favors Northrop Satellite

The Pentagon has approved a restructuring plan that allows Northrop Grumman Corp. to continue work on a multibillion-dollar weather satellite program after officials concluded it was “essential to our nation,” the Air Force said.
Under the restructuring, the Pentagon will cancel a conical scanning microwave imaging sensor made by Boeing Co. for the satellite and launch a competition for a less complex sensor package, the Air Force said.
