Comcast to Keep Web Address Records Longer

From Reuters

An executive with cable operator Comcast Corp. told lawmakers the company would hold onto Web address records for a longer time under a new policy to help law enforcement in child pornography investigations.

Comcast Vice President Gerard Lewis said at a House hearing that Comcast would retain records on Internet protocol addresses assigned to computers connected to its network for 180 days, up from 31 days under its current policy.

The policy will take effect Sept. 1, Lewis said.
