Fleetwood warns of greater loss in quarter

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. warned that it expected to report a “significantly greater net loss” in the third quarter than it did in the second because of a 25% drop in sales of its recreational vehicles and manufactured homes.

The company reported preliminary revenue for the quarter, which ended Jan. 28, of $439 million, down from $584 million a year earlier.

The year-earlier results were boosted, the company said, by more than $100 million in orders from the government for housing after Hurricane Katrina.
