With the federal Drug Enforcement Administration cracking down on medical marijuana dispensaries, the City Council has scheduled a key vote today on whether to temporarily ban any new centers in the city.
Through last November, Los Angeles had 98 marijuana facilities, with at least 12 near day-care centers or schools, the city attorney’s office said.
A ban would allow existing dispensaries to remain open while giving the city time to write permanent regulations governing them.
