Gore lovers

WHAT world is Patrick Goldstein living in? “When it comes to real gore, we like to turn away,” he writes [“Those ‘Hostel’ Ads Test the Squirm Factor,” June 5]. Au contraire. Been stuck in a rubber-necker backup on the freeway lately, especially at the gory hands of an overturned car and a draped yellow blanket? It’s what movies like “Hostel” tap in to. Nothing more, nothing less.

And sorry, uber-marketer Tim Palen, but most of us are laughing at you.
