Raids yield pot plants worth nearly $3 million

Hundreds of marijuana plants have been discovered in two residences in the county in the last two days.

Authorities found 678 marijuana plants -- most about 3-feet high and estimated to be worth $2 million -- after serving a warrant Tuesday at a residence in the 16000 block of Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley. About 1,000 additional plants at the residence appeared to have been harvested within the last month.

That bust led authorities to a residence in Hesperia, where they found 938 plants estimated to be worth more than $900,000.

The crops were controlled by Asian organized crime networks, sheriff’s officials said. Seven search warrants have been served related to the network’s activities, resulting in two arrests, authorities said.
