Hagel is extreme

Re “Impeachment is on the table, Hagel says,” March 26

So now we are going to impeach presidents over differences of opinion about the Iraq war? That’s the conclusion you would draw after reading of Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel’s disappointment that President Bush won’t just roll over and do whatever Congress wants. If that is the case, we had better be prepared for the chaos of impeachment attempts on almost every future president. Majority opinion is a major factor in the American political system, but it is not the final determinant. A brief study of American history will quickly reveal that majority opinion is not always right.
