Re “The wrong sex offender laws,” Opinion, Sept. 18
Maybe this article should be titled, “The wrong offender laws.” In the Legislature’s knee-jerk reaction to anything sexual, I am able to go online and determine if a convicted flasher lives in my neighborhood. But an arsonist, drug dealer, someone convicted of residential burglary or assault and battery, or a Mafia hit man in witness protection can move in next door and it’s none of my business. I’m not suggesting more laws, only that when laws are enacted, they are done with intellect, not emotions, as well as with eyes firmly averted from the ballot box.
