Looking beyond Bruins

Bill Plaschke needs to stop drinking his own Kool-Aid. In his July 25 column about the USC-UCLA football rivalry, he talks about all the “preseason sizzle” and all the pressure and drama in L.A. leading up to the 2008 college football season.

Yes, there is a lot of preseason sizzle and drama -- and all of it is with respect to USC’s matchup against Ohio State. The only drama about UCLA’s team is how many quarterbacks they will go through and how many games they will lose.

I’m sure Pete Carroll and the Trojans are taking things one day at a time, but we are looking ahead to spending Jan. 8 in Miami. My vacation is already scheduled.
