Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded Thursday evening to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On arrival, deputies located the teens, both males, at a fire station before they were taken to a hospital.

The 17-year-old died at the hospital.

The 18-year-old, who is also a Moreno Valley resident, is in stable condition, officials said.

“This remains an ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
