So, I had a perhaps-unhealthy thought. Does anyone have any experience with the Ibanez miKro GSRM20 basses? They're super short-scale (26.5-inch) bass guitars aimed at the small-handed beginner market. I played a couple in stores a few years ago as curiosities and thought they were cheap (tuners, etc.) but the fit-and-finish level was surprisingly good.

One's being offered used nearby. My thought is to set it up as a "piccolo bass," tuned A-C-G-C or G-C-F-Bb.

On bass I've never been a bottom-dweller who picks the lowest possible routes for basslines, and I've always liked the idea of a high-tuned bass with a honky P-bass pickup. Have I lost my mind?

Als E-Bassist bin ich immer enttäuscht, wenn ich hier auf Mastodon einem Link folge, der mit #Bass getaggt ist, und ich stoße auf so'ne DJ- oder Techno-Kacke.

Ja, ich weiß; ist *mein* Problem. Für manche Leute ist "Bass" eben nur ein wummerndes Geräusch, das ihnen rhythmisch in die Gedärme tritt. Aber ist okay, schlechter Geschmack ist ja nicht verboten. Mit #Musik hat das IMHO aber kaum was zu tun. Jeder hat eben sein eigenes stilistisches Niveau.

Moin! Ich bin #neuhier. Bin schon deutlich länger auf Mastodon unterwegs als Okatjerute und wollte mal schauen, wie's hier aussieht. Und was der Unterschied zu Mastodon ist. Ich komme aus #Kiel, habe Verbindungen nach #Namibia, mag meine #Katzen und spiele #Bass im meiner Band #TheShandtates (Jazz and more).

Im April ist das #Krautrock-Urgestein #Kraan auf Tour und präsentiert seine nagelneue Platte „All In”!

55 Jahre gibt es diese Band schon und die drei Gründungsmitglieder spielen heute wieder zusammen als Kraan, wobei zwei davon durchgängig dabei waren.

In meinem eigenen Leben musikalisch wichtig waren vor allem die Kraan-Alben der 70er, insbesondere die „Andy Nogger“ (1974) habe ich viel gehört. Ebenso die „Let It Out“ (1975).

Ob mir das neue Album gefallen wird? Werden wir sehen. Auf SWR2 gab's gestern schon mal eine Hörprobe, es hörte sich doch ziemlich klassisch nach Kraan an, mit Unisono-Parts Gitarre/Synthesizer dem üblichen endgeilen Hellmut-Hattler-Bass.

Ja, ich weiß - ich klinge jetzt wie mein eigener Vater. 🙄 Aber zu seiner Zeit, in meiner Jugend, gab es noch keine Computer. Ich habe mir noch selber beibringen können, wie man ein Musikinstrument spielt. Das war eine der geilsten und besten Zeiten meines Lebens. Dieses Gerät in die Hände nehmen und die Vibrationen der Töne zu spüren, eine Melodie oder einen Rhythmus selber zu erschaffen - einfach geil!
Eine kleine Band mit Freunden gründen, beschissene Musik machen, Spaß haben.

Die Radiosendung, in der wir zusammen die Weiten des musikalischen Untergrunds erforschen. Praktisch ohne Rücksicht auf Verluste.
Will heißen:
U.a. geben sich Bernhard Brink und LL "I need love" Cool J die Klinke in die Hand. I'm not even kidding. Des weiteren gibt es noch Zeug, was klingt, als wäre ein Tape aus den 80ern kaputt gegangen, IDM Beatz, DnB, Bass, Dub, Experimentelle Akkordeon-Elektronik, experimental Jazz, Frauen aus Italien machen Hardcore Punk, dem gegenüber wird polnischer Schlafzimmerpunk stehen und Shoegaze darf auch nicht fehlen.

Im Grunde braucht Ihr gar nicht einzuschalten, denn damit ist ja alles gesagt.
