LAPD responds to Hollywood after caller threatens a shooting

Los Angeles police took up tactical positions in Hollywood on Wednesday evening after a caller threatened to carry out a shooting in the area, law enforcement authorities told The Times.

The Los Angeles Police Department had set up a mobile command post in the area to help coordinate officers’ movements. The caller did not give an exact location as to where a possible threat of violence would be carried out, according to authorities.

Authorities declined to discuss the specifics of what the caller said, but added that they were taking the threat seriously and exercising every precaution necessary to protect the public.
