As artificial intelligence reshapes global computing, Enermax is returning to its roots as a power specialist. Established 36 years ago, the Taiwanese company is expanding into AI data center infrastructure through high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power systems.
“The age of AI is truly coming,” said Luke Lu, President of Enermax Technology Corporation. “Everything is turning toward AI now.”
Headquartered in New Taipei City, with subsidiaries in the United States, Germany, Japan and China, Enermax established dedicated AI Systems and HVDC divisions in 2023 to address rising AI data center power demands. While gaming products remain a core part of its business, future growth is increasingly tied to enterprise infrastructure.
“At our core, we have always been a power company,” Lu said. “That remains the foundation of what we do.”
Beyond Traditional Power
AI is transforming data center design as higher computing density demands more efficient power delivery. Enermax is addressing that shift with its Encore and Encore-S HVDC platforms, which enable conventional internet data centers to transition to future-ready 800V DC power architectures while supporting the growing demands of AI workloads. The systems deliver up to 1.2MW of rack-level power, providing a scalable upgrade path as operators modernize existing facilities.
The company says its HVDC solutions achieve up to 98% efficiency, compared with approximately 94% for conventional internet data centers, helping reduce energy losses, cooling requirements and operating costs.
“As power efficiency improves, everyone benefits,” Lu said. “You reduce wasted energy and you reduce wasted heat.”
Cooling for the Future
Power and cooling are becoming inseparable as AI workloads grow more demanding. Enermaxis collaborating with Japan’s Daikin Industries on next-generation liquid cooling technologies as traditional air cooling approaches its practical limits. “Eventually, traditional cooling methods will reach their limits,” Lu said. “The industry has to prepare for what comes next.”
Building the AI Infrastructure of Tomorrow
Enermax’s 2026-2027 roadmap centers on Medium Voltage Rectifier (MVR) systems for next-generation GPU platforms, including the NVIDIA Blackwell and forthcoming Vera Rubin era.
Designed for new AI data centers, the integrated MVR architecture combines medium-voltage distribution, transformer and rectifier systems into a single solution. Delivering end-to-end efficiency of up to 98%, it reduces equipment footprint, installation time and maintenance requirements while accelerating deployment. With AI rack power expected to reach 600kW by 2027, Enermax plans to scale its MVR platforms to 5MW and 10MW, supporting the next generation of AI and high-performance computing.

Enermax’s transformation reflects Taiwan’s growing role in the global AI ecosystem. From its headquarters in New Taipei City and R&D center in Taoyuan, the company is applying decades of engineering expertise to the infrastructure underpinning next-generation computing. “Taiwan is at the forefront of the AI boom,” Lu said. “When companies look at the future of AI infrastructure, Taiwan has to be part of that conversation.”
