CIF regional playoffs approved for baseball and softball

The CIF State Federated Council voted 88-53 to approve a proposal to launch regional baseball and softball playoffs beginning with the 2021 season.
Southern Section schools had opposed the proposal but support from the City Section and other sections was enough to get it approved.
The proposal is for regional competition to take place during the first week of June in 2021 following the section championships.
