Lakers suffer meltdown in 106-101 loss to Washington

Reporting from Washington -- Somehow, the season just got worse for the Lakers.
They surrendered a 21-point lead and completely collapsed in a 106-101 loss Wednesday to the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center.
Kobe Bryant had 30 points but continued to misfire, making only nine of 31 shots as the Lakers fell to 6-14 on the road.
Bryant made only eight of 26 shots night Tuesday in the Lakers’ overtime loss to Detroit.
Little-known forwards Trevor Booker (18 points, 17 rebounds) and Kevin Seraphin (14 points, nine rebounds) pounded the Lakers down low. Seldom-used veteran Roger Mason hurt them from the outside, scoring 14 points and making four of seven three-point attempts.
The Lakers led, 76-55, after Derek Fisher made two free-throw attempts with 7:23 left in the third quarter. But the Wizards went on a 32-7 run and led by four early in the fourth quarter after Mason hit back-to-back three-pointers.
The Wizards (9-29) had the league’s second-worst record coming into the game.
Andrew Bynum had 19 points on six-for-eight shooting. Pau Gasol had 19 points on six-for-11 shooting.
The Lakers (23-16) are 0-2 on a road trip that ends Friday in Minnesota.
