Ndamukong Suh reportedly will sign with Miami Dolphins

The most sought-after defensive player on the market may now become the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

Former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has agreed to a six-year, $114-million deal with the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Free Press reported Sunday.

The contract, which Suh can’t sign until the start of free agency Tuesday, would pay him roughly $19 million a season. It includes $60 million in guaranteed money.

ESPN first reported the deal.

Suh turned down a contract offer from the Lions that would have paid him $17 million a year and $58 million in guaranteed money, according to the Free-Press.

Suh’s new contract would surpass the six-year, $100-million contract extension that Houston Texans linebacker J.J. Watt signed in September, which made him at the time the highest-paid defensive player in league history.
