Peyton Manning has struggled this season and now he's hurt. Brock Osweiler has played well during his absence.
Which means the Denver Broncos have a huge question looming: Who should be their quarterback once Manning is healthy?
There might not be an easy answer. Manning is one of the all-time greats, but he hasn't played that way this season. He has 17 interceptions to go with only nine touchdown passes and was benched last week during a game against Kansas City in which he compiled a passer rating of 0.0.
Sure, the 39-year-old Manning has been playing hurt and sat out this week with a partially torn plantar fascia and a rib injury, among other ailments. But there are also questions as to whether he fits in with new Coach Gary Kubiak's offense.
Osweiler seems to be a good fit so far. Making his first NFL start on Sunday, the fourth-year player completed 20 of 27 passers for 250 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 127.1 to lead the Broncos to a 17-15 win over Chicago.
Denver is almost certain to make the playoffs, with a three-game lead over the Chiefs atop the AFC West with six games remaining. The dilemma is, who do they want to lead them once they're there -- the struggling future Hall of Famer or the hot, but inexperienced, kid?
