Web Buzz: AdventureLink.com helps you choose your own

Like adventure activities? How about travel deals? Finding both is as easy as doing a Google search. Caution: You many end up leaving the country.

Name: AdventureLink.com

What it does: This website lets you search the world for more than 14,000 adventure trips both big and small. From low-impact yoga, walking and wine tours to adrenaline-pumping motorcycle tours, zip-lining and river rafting — there’s something for everyone. It can also assist in custom trip-planning.

What’s hot: The adventure trips are easy to sort according to budget, destination or type of trip. If you don’t know where or which type of activity you want, head straight to the “Styles” section, where you can peruse trips by theme such as Women Only, Gay and Lesbian, 55-plus, Family, etc. My favorite feature was sorting by “Deals,” where I found several trips discounted 50%, including adventure trekking, bird-watching and tropical island cruising in Thailand.

What’s not: I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options. If this happens to you, turn to its “Browse” page, where it has Editor’s Picks and Richard Bangs’ 13 Greatest Adventures for 2013.
