Wild Nights Family Overnight Spooky Sleepover

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Festival of AltarsWhen, where: Nov. 2, from 24th and Bryant streets to Garfield Park (at Harrison and 26th streets), Mission District.

Highlights: A family-friendly evening procession that ends in Garfield Park, where participants place personal mementos on altars built by local artists.

Cost: Free, though a guided walking tour is available for $25.

San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival

When, where: Nov. 12 to 16, downtown San Diego and Embarcadero Park North.

Highlights: Wine-tasting, cooking classes, chef demos and seminars and, on Nov. 15, the Grand Tasting Event, during which local chefs, caterers and vintners offer a panoply of samples.

Cost: Individual events range from $45 to $150; tickets for the Grand Tasting Event cost $100.
