Web Buzz: PetHotelsofAmerica.com helps plan pet-friendly trips

No leash needed with this travel website.

Name: PetHotelsofAmerica.com

What it does: Helps you plan a pet-friendly trip from a database of 25,000 hotels, as well as parks, beaches, restaurants, tours, attractions, airlines and more.

What’s hot: You get the hotel info you need on the first page of your search results, without having to click deeper for hotel or pet restrictions. Look for the big green flag that lets you know the hotel has been “Pet verified,” along with info such as weight limits or whether refundable deposits are needed. It also shows you the type of room you’re booking, price, star rating and more. The site launched a little more than a year ago with just hotels and kennels in a handful of Western states. It has been recently redesigned and expanded to all 50 American states and all types of accommodations and amenities. It’s much more comprehensive.

What’s not: From the home page I had to pick a city, then choose from among cabins, vacation homes, hotels, B&Bs;, parks and more. Couldn’t I just see everything on one map?
