Daily Deal: Room sale for summer stays at 14 Millennium hotels

Millennium Hotels and Resorts offers a summer deal at 14 hotels in North America -- 15% off the best available rate and free breakfast for young kids. From the prices I checked, it’s a pretty good find for families who seek an urban getaway in L.A., Chicago or New York City -- and want to save a little money too.

The deal: The Summer Freedom Package takes 15% off the best available rate and adds on free Wi-Fi and free breakfasts for up to two children 12 years old and younger (doesn’t apply to in-room dining). Use the booking code “SFREEDOM” when you make a reservation.

When: The offer is good for stays from May 27 to Sept. 2, based on availability.

Tested: Reservations must be booked seven days in advance to take advantage of this deal. Also, no date changes or refunds are allowed.

I’ve always found Fourth of July to be a fun time to visit cities such as Chicago and New York City because of the big fireworks shows that are easy to get to and free. For July 3-5, I found availability for a room with two double beds for an average $156 a night plus tax at the historic Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago, which isn’t far from fireworks at the Navy Pier.

I also found a room during the holiday at One UN New York, which is east of Midtown, for an average $228 a night plus tax. The offer extends to hotels in Los Angeles (downtown Millennium Biltmore); Boulder, Colo.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Anchorage.
