Daily Deal: Cathay Pacific sale offers $849 fare for LAX-Hong Kong

Every September, Hong Kong glows with lantern light to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, based on an ancient Chinese harvest tradition. It’s a time when moon cakes are eaten too. Cathay Pacific has a fall sale on airfares between L.A. and Hong Kong that might make going a reality: round-trip flights starting at $849.
The deal: Flights are good from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Hong Kong during the sale period. The price applies to flights Mondays through Thursdays only.
When: The offer is good through 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, based on availability.
Tested: I found the $849 airfare leaving Los Angeles on Oct. 8 and returning Oct. 14. But if you want to go for the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sept. 19, it will cost you a bit more. I found seats for $923 round-trip for flights leaving L.A. on Sept. 16 and returning Sept. 23.
