L.A.-India in premium economy starts at $1,971 on Cathay Pacific

Los Angeles Times Daily Travel & Deal blogger

Cathay Pacific Airways has launched a one-week sale on premium economy seats from Los Angeles and other U.S. cities to four destinations in India. Sale prices from L.A. start as low as $1,971 round-trip, but only until Monday or until seats are filled.

The deal: The Hong Kong-based carrier offers discounts on premium class from L.A., San Francisco, New York and Chicago. From Los Angeles, it costs $1,971 to Chennai, $1,996 to Mumbai, $2,006 to Hyderabad and $2,024 to Delhi.

The airfare is round-trip for premium class, which comes with roomier seats, priority check-in, noise-canceling headsets and other perks.

When: The offer is good until 11:59 p.m. PST Monday for travel from March 15 to April 30, based on availability.

Tested: To cash in on this sale, you have to book online. Flights go to India by way of Hong Kong in the itineraries I checked, which take between 21 and 23 hours each way. I found availability for flights to Mumbai leaving L.A. on March 18 and returning March 25 at the $1,996 rate. I found savings of $400 to $600 on premium-class seats compared with other times of the year on Cathay Pacific.
