San Francisco: Hotel room and tickets to Chinese New Year Parade

Los Angeles Times Daily Travel & Deal blogger

San Francisco’s Chinatown will celebrate the Year of the Snake on Feb. 23 with the Chinese New Year Parade, a tradition that dates to the 1860s. Omni San Francisco Hotel offers a room package that includes parade tickets and breakfast starting at $301 a night.

The deal: The Chinese New Year Package comes with two bleacher seat tickets for the Feb. 23 parade, breakfast through room service or in the hotel’s restaurant, free valet parking and a fortune cookie. The hotel at 500 California St. is close to Chinatown, too.

When: The offer is good for stays Feb. 22-24 but requires a Feb. 23 stay.

Tested: I checked online and found the package available Feb. 23 for $245 a night plus tax, lower than the online advertised rate. The best available rate for the same room on the same night starts at $199 a night plus tax. For an extra $46, guests receive parade tickets (usually $60 for two), valet parking ($32 a night plus tax on weekends), breakfast and more.
