Motorcyclist Dies in Head-On Crash

PAUMA VALLEY — A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Pala was killed in a collision with a truck on California 76 here Thursday.
Charles Chapel was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Highway 76 when he attempted to pass a pickup truck, rounded a curb and struck a westbound semi-trailer driven by Lorenzo Ruiz, 53, of Riverside, according to information released by the California Highway Patrol and Deputy Coroner David Lodge.
Chapel was hurled to the ground and was dead at the scene.
