Near Collisions

Thank you for the article by Peter S. Greenberg, “Number of Near Collisions Rises, Air Report Says” (Jan. 25). On a recent flight from LAX to Denver the pilot had just banked and turned east when I saw a small plane going west not more than 300 or 400 feet off our right wing. As the article says, there must be something done to prevent private pilots of small planes from being “licensed to kill.” The lives of countless commercial airline passengers are more important than the right of small planes to fly.
