Hermosa Beach : Memorial to Jarvis Opened

The Greg Jarvis Bicycle Rest Stop, built as a memorial to the Hermosa Beach astronaut who was killed in the Challenger space shuttle disaster, was officially opened at a dedication this week.
The rest stop, on The Strand north of 14th Street, was built with city money and donated labor, funds and materials. The cost was estimated at $20,000.
Jarvis was an avid bike rider and often road to his job at Hughes Aircraft Co. in El Segundo.
