Edendale

In your Only in L.A. column (Metro, Feb. 1), you identified the 80-year-old Mack Sennett Studio as being located in Echo Park. In the middle 1920s I lived in the next block from the studio and the area was called Edendale.

Echo Park was considered a separate district, starting somewhere between Berkeley Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.

There was a distinct difference. I went to Clifford Street School in Edendale about two blocks from the Sennett Studio. Echo Park had Logan Street School which was a few blocks from Sunset Boulevard. Both were grammar schools, but in separate districts.
