Gillette Co: The Boston-based maker of safety razors reported record net income of $284.7 million in 1989, up 6% from the previous year, as sales increased 7% to $3.82 billion. Fourth-quarter results showed net income up 29% to $79.4 million on sales of $1.05 billion, a 9% increase. The company said sales in North America and Europe were “moderately higher” for 1989, while operating profits were flat.
