Fluor Daniel Contract: Fluor Daniel, the Irvine-based major subsidiary of engineering and construction giant Fluor Corp., said it has received a $50-million contract from Royal Dutch Shell Co. to provide engineering and procurement services for expanding a styrene and propylene oxide plant near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Styrene is used in making polystyrene and such products as automobile tires; propylene oxide is used for the production of polyurethane foams. Fluor Daniel also said it has been awarded a contract estimated to be worth $35 million to provide construction management services for a new 570-bed correctional institution and related facilities in McKinney, Tex., 40 miles north of Dallas.
