Kerkorian Outlines TWA Plans: Trans World Airlines...

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Kerkorian Outlines TWA Plans: Trans World Airlines would eventually have to stop flying if its London routes are sold to American Airlines, according to a letter that outlined investor Kirk Kerkorian’s hopes for trying to buy and rebuild the airline. TWA would then be liquidated, “following in the footsteps of Eastern,” Kerkorian’s Tracinda Corp. said in the letter to Transportation Secretary Samuel K. Skinner, who has been considering the route sales. Beverly Hills-based Tracinda said it had plans to build a “New TWA” that would include adding new management, setting up new flight schedules, making better use of the company’s facilities, attaining a better aircraft fleet and restructuring the airline’s debts.
