Ralph E. Doughton, 85, retired chairman of the board of Barker Bros. and president of what then were several subsidiaries of the furniture stores, including Gold’s, Butler Bros., Dryer’s and American of El Paso, Tex. Doughton went to Barker Bros. in 1966 after 20 years with the May Department Stores, where he was general merchandise manager. He retired in 1971 at the mandatory retirement age of 65.
