DRIVING A FORD: The San Joaquin Hills Corridor Agency is taking a beating from commuters over plans to close part of Newport Coast Drive--including its MacArthur Boulevard connection--when toll road construction starts next year. But corridor officials say the criticism is unfair. . . . Before any construction begins, they will first realign Ford Road to give residents another East Coast Highway-to-MacArthur connection. None of Newport Coast Drive, they say, will be closed until that’s done.
