American Airlines to Block Oversize Bags

Starting Wednesday, American Airlines is installing templates at security X-ray machines to block oversize carry-ons. LAX is among 10 airports affected. Rejected carry-ons will have to be checked. The template openings are 15 by 9 inches for standard bags and 24 by 5 inches for folded hanging bags. United Airlines and Southwest Airlines have installed similar devices.
