* Re “Oxnard Airport Called School Obstacle,” July 28.

Mayor Manuel Lopez says that the airport makes it impossible to put in a new school in that area. Well, let’s see. It’s OK for a fire station, the new Boys and Girls Club and a host of new shopping malls.

I’ve lived in Oxnard 40 years, and the only plane crash I can remember happened around the location of the new Oxnard High School.

Why is it that when airports are built out in the middle of nowhere, humanity always catches up and the airport is forced to close? You can bet that when I vote, it won’t be for the current board.
