Buying peace and quiet aloft

IN response to Duncan Smith [“Please, Leave Those Screamers at Home,” Letters, Aug. 28]: In the summer of 2003, I purchased a pair of Bose QuietComfort Headphones for a flight to Hawaii. My wife was skeptical as to whether they were worth $300 until she tried them.

Now we each have a pair, and the difference is amazing. We arrive at our destination relaxed because we don’t have to listen to plane noise or the screams of babies in front of or behind us.

I recommend that solution because the airlines will never agree to keep kids off planes.
