Sure, “The Pitt” is a consensus pick to repeat. But the Force is strong with “Pluribus”: The sardonic sci-fi thinker from “Breaking Bad’s” Vince Gilligan takes every No. 2 vote. These two are way ahead of the rest of the field, with “The Pitt” earning almost eight times as many points as surprise nominee “Your Friends & Neighbors” (the only drama contender to not appear in the BuzzMeter’s nominee predictions in the first round).
The second visit to the Pittsburgh ER pressure cooker may not be the white-knuckle ride of the first, but its continued excellence and social relevance — taking on the sometimes-deadly pitfalls of an unaffordable healthcare system, as well as ICE raids — keeps it firmly at the fore of the panel’s predictions.
Glenn Whipp says, “Good news, bad news for ‘Pluribus.’ The good news is that it earned 18 nominations, the most of any first-year drama. The bad news: ‘The Pitt’ earned 25.” Tracy Brown agrees: “The Pitt’ upped the ante in Season 2, telling a story about our embattled healthcare system that is about much more than just the day that unfolds.”
