In the evening before the Pleiades night, I observed the partially covered sun setting very close by, behind the striking peak of the Donon. I determined my shooting position using photoephemeris.com.

I like to visit this lonely near the marina. But I haven’t been there for a while, so I was surprised to see its condition when I saw it today.
It has chosen a rough location, so it isn’t really a surprise. Especially after last winter. This part of the inlet was frozen for a long time and I’m guessing there was a lot of ice accumulated right here.

The first two pictures are taken today. The rest are from the archieves. Lets all appreciate the life force in the tree.

Mein Mann sagte gestern "Wenn ich von der Arbeit komme, wäre es super, wenn die Kids schon was gegessen haben und versorgt sind. Dann bist du bitte mitsamt Kamera abfahrbereit. Wir machen einen Ausflug"
Ich wusste nicht, wohin es geht. Wir waren gut 80 Minuten unterwegs.
Und dann stand ich in Cuxhaven-Sahlenburg an der Nordsee. Oder besser gesagt am Watt. Denn das Wasser war abfließend.

🇺🇸 Yesterday my husband said, “When I get home from work, it would be great if the kids had already eaten and everything was ready. Then please be ready to go, with your camera gear. We’re going on a field trip.”
I didn’t know where we were going. We were on the road for a good 80 minutes.
And then I found myself in Cuxhaven-Sahlenburg on the North Sea - or rather, on the mudflats, since it was low tide.

Pictured: Pen Mar Park from High Rock.

July 14, 1983, 43 years ago today: Entering Pen Mar Park was a relief. In the years around 1900, this spot was billed as the Coney Island of the Blue Ridge, with an amusement park, seven hotels and about a hundred boarding houses. After years of slow decline, the park was forced out of business by World War II gas rationing in 1943.
