Morning mist at #Morteau (Doubs) 🇫🇷 station. The little town in the Jura hills near the Swiss border is known for watchmaking and its #SaucisseDeMorteau sausages (and for the railway line of course).

#Morez (Jura) 🇫🇷, is a nice little town close to the Swiss🇨🇭border. In autumn 2004, when these photos were taken, the old-fashioned, charming train station has seen a variety of workings by the iconic (and meanwhile withdrawn) #SNCF class #X2800 Diesel units in their twilight years. #PastTrainTrips

The #Venice 🇮🇹 to #Vienna 🇦🇹 daytime Express #Gondoliere is seen here approaching #Villach in 1989. The colourful consist includes Italian and Austrian carriages - among them, on the day I’ve taken the picture, an #ÖBB couchette car (partly visible on the photo).

Another particularly #European 🇪🇺 train today: #Eurocity #Vauban, originally starting in Milan 🇮🇹, seen here at Saint-Louis 🇫🇷 on its way from Switzerland🇨🇭to Belgium 🇧🇪 via Strasbourg 🇫🇷 & Luxembourg 🇱🇺. The loco: #SNCF 🇫🇷, the coaches #SBB 🇨🇭 & #SNCB #NMBS 🇧🇪. Picture taken in February 2009. #PastTrainTrips

An #FS 🇮🇹 class #ALe601 unit, photographed at #Roma Termini in April 1983. Among the trains worked by these units: the #Rapido “Peloritano” composed of several sections, i.a. to and from #Palermo and #Siracusa, crossing the Strait of #Messina between #Sicily and the mainland by ferry.

A photo taken in August 1985 at, probably, #Udine 🇮🇹. (Or was it #Mestre 🤔?) An #FS Class 646 electric is hauling a train composed of, back then rather new, MDVC-type cars for regional services. On the left, a Class ALe 840 unit, I think, on local duties.
