#Radstadt 🇦🇹 station on the #Graz to #Salzburg line: a place full of old railway charm when I took this photo in June 2013. (And it seems it still is.) Low-level platforms with “direct” access across adjacent tracks. The railfan’s delight, yet a nightmare for passengers with reduced mobility.

#Salzburg 🇦🇹 roundhouse in the early 1980s, if I remember well. An #ÖBB Class 1042.500 electric, still with the pre-1974 winged wheel on the front, seems to enjoy the winter sun.

These things that stay in a box for decades. Useless, but of a certain emotional value. Like this #Munich 🇩🇪 to #Salzburg 🇦🇹 ticket and the timetable leaflet, from March 1980: D265 #Mozart. My first ever ride on an #SNCF 🇫🇷 #Corail car, which I, aged 16 back then, found comfortable, classy and stylish. And I still do, aged 60 (something).

I departed from, and arrived at, #Salzburg 🇦🇹 Hauptbahnhof hundreds of times. Only tonight I discover this plate: it contains the names of dozens of railwaymen from here, who lost their lives while fighting National Socialism between 1938 and 1945, i.e. the years of Nazi rule in Austria.

Seen at #Salzburg 🇦🇹 Hbf a few minutes ago, a truly European 🇪🇺 train: #ÖBB #NightJet #468/40468 to #Brussels 🇧🇪 and #Paris 🇫🇷 is awaiting departure. The train is hauled by the #ELL #Siemens #Vectron 193.962 electric in nightjet livery, certified to operate in Belgium. Next stop will be #Rosenheim 🇩🇪.
